DONGFENG MOTOR WUHAN OPEN (2 746 000 USD, HARD COURT), SINGLES, ROUND 1
Rebecca Peterson (Swedish)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian) 6:7 (0-7), 6:4, 4:1 – Timi retired

The match ended after 2 hours 37 minutes in Wuhan.

“Unfortunately I had to give up today’s match. I have been suffering from the disease since the US Open, but since I am always a maximalist, I have only allowed 2 days to rest in Sopron. From then, I was training with all my strength. I guess the long trip did not do well, and since I’m here in Wuhan, I keep training, despite the cough and the malaise. During my career I give up a match very few occasions, but I did so today on the advice of a physiotherapist. I played for two and a half hours in the hot weather against Peterson, who is in good form. And I can say that I have gave everything from myself. Now the most important thing is to be healed, so I promise, I’m also careful not to train 7-8 hours a day” – said Timi.
