WTA Rankings: improvements in doubles

11/07/2016 – The Wimbledon final had an impact at the traditional ranking and at the WTA Race.


On Saturday, the third Grand Slam event of the year ended with the final of the Ladies’ Singles and Doubles. And the current best Hungarian player finished the tournament with a great success.


Timi again reached the second round in Singles, she moved back one place, from 44 to 45 in the traditional ranking. In the Singles Race she is 24th after the Wimbledon event.


In Doubles Timi again celebrated a great success. After the 2014 final she was a semifinalist last season, both times with Kristina Mladenovic. The French player this year starts with Caroline Garcia, because of the Rio Olympics. The Hungarian youngster’s partner is currently, Yaroslava Shvedova.


The Hungarian-Kazakh duo excelled at Wimbledon! Timi and Shvedova in the quarter-final defeated the defending champion and World No1 pair of Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza. After the successful semifinal, Timi and Shvedova lost against Serena and Venus Williams.


After Wimbledon, Timi got a lot of important ranking points, she moved from 3670 to 4190. Now she is ranked 11th, she improved two places. In the 2016 WTA Race she moved from the 8th position to the 4th place. The best 8 pair will start at the year-ending WTA Finals.
