WTA Finals 2019: successful start in Group Red

28/10/2019 – The Hungarian-French pair won after three sets, in a Champions Tie-break.

WTA FINALS 2019 (14 000 000 USD, INDOOR CARPET), GROUP RED, ROUND 1
Tímea Babos, Kristina Mladenovic (Hungarian, French) – Hao-Chin Chan, Latisha Chan (Taiwanese) 6:2, 5:7, 10-6

The match lasted 1 hour and 39 minutes.

In the 32-minute first set, the Hungarian-French double was confidently behind the serves and as a receiver, they played much more accurate than the opponent. Timi and Kiki Mladenovic broke three times, so it wasn’t too much trouble to lose the service game after 4:1.

The second set was an interesting one … Until 2:2, both pair won their serve, and till 5:5, six break came. In the 10th game, Timi lost her serve from two match balls. Then, in the end, the Taiwanese were more accurate, so came the Champions Tie-break.

In the tie-break, Timi and her partner led with receiver’s point several times, but the final period started at 6-6. The defending pair then won three rally in a row, and Kiki’s good volley ended the match.

Győzelemmel kezdtük a VB-t! Jól játszottunk, a Chan-testvérek szintén, szerintem magas színvonalú, izgalmas meccs…
