25/10/2016 – Mattek-Sands and Safarova has already won together three Grand Slam events.


On Tuesday the Doubles Draw was also made at the 7 000 000 USD WTA Finals at Singapore: Timi and Yaroslava Shvedova will meet the 3rd seed pair of Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova.


“We got quite a difficult draw, the opponent is now one of the best, if not the best duo. To be sure, now they are in the best form, they had a long unbeaten run. I train, of course, I practice a lot for the tournament. My thigh have been getting better after the Moscow injury. I’m very glad with it! It was important, I done a lot, to improve the situation! Timi began the 2016 season with the Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik, and because of the modest results after the Australian Open went their separate ways. The Hungarian player reachet the semifinal in Dubai, and the quarter-final in Doha with Julia Goerges from Germany.


Timi and Yaroslava Shvedova began the common road at Indian Wells, with a semifinal. First time, they played with each other at 2013 in Tashkent, where the won the tournament with a brilliant performance. After IW, they reached the final in Miami. Later they were quarter-finalists in Madrid and Rome. At the Roland Garros they won two matches. Then came the semifinal in Eastbourne.


The best result of the season for the Hungarian-Kazakh came at Wimbledon. They reached the final! In the QF they won in two sets against the defending champion Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza. In the final they lost against Serena and Venus Williams. After the Wimbledon tournament Timi and Shvedova reached the last eight in Cincinnati, then they were at the semifinal in New Haven. Recently, the Hungarian-Kazakh duo were qurter-finalists in Wuhan.


Last year, Timi and Kristina Mladenovic had one victory and two defeats in the group stage of the WTA Finals. The event was won by Hingis and Mirza.


The Hungarian player is ranked 15th, has a career best position of 8 (June 22, 2015). She was a finalist at Wimbledon in 2014 (Co: Kristina Mladenovic) and in 2016 (Co: Yaroslava Shvedova). Timi has won 10 WTA, 1 WTA-125 and 9 ITF event in doubles.  was a finalist at Wimbledon.


Shvedova is ranked 13th, her career best position was 3 (February 22 2016). She was the Champion in 2010 at Wimbledon and at the US Open, both times with Vania King. She has won 13 WTA, 1 WTA-125 and 4 ITF events in doubles.


Bethanie Mattek-Sands (Born: 23.03.1985) is ranked 5th, her career best position was 3rd (17 August, 2015). So far, she has won 22 WTA and 3 ITF tournament in this genre.
