“To be honest, I’m very tired. It was a long way from Miami, the time difference is not so easy. So today, it was not an easy match. Nevertheless, I am aware that this is the last tournament before a little rest and the clay court preparation. I will do everything to play well in Katowice. I will fight this week as I can. I hope I shall possess a long time”– said Timi.
The 22-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Viktorija Golubic.
On Sunday Timi played in the doubles final in Miami,then had a long journey to Europe. And even she must deal with the six hour time difference.
The Hungarian youngster began well in the Polish industrial city on Wednesday: in the second game she won the opponent’s service game. And she saved that lead against the lucky loser Maleckova (WTA-223).
After the 33-minute first set Timi again had an early break advantage. She saved that until 3:2, then began a little thriller…
Maleckova won her opponent’s service game three times, but but played badly behind her own serves. In the tenth game she saved two match points as a receiver.
After 5:5 Timi broke her rival to 40, then hold her serve to 30.
The Hungarian player’s opponent in the last 16 will be the World No-137 Viktorija Golubic. The 23-year old Swiss player has a career best position of 135 (21 March 2016). So far, she has won 8 ITF event in singles. She remained unbeaten this year in Hong Kong (25 000 USD hard court).
Timi never met Golubic in the WTA Tour.
