21/02/2017 – Timi and Lucie Safarova came back from a break down in both set.

The match lasted 1 hour 12 minutes in the BOK Hall in Budapest.


“I am pleased that We started the tournament with a win. I played doubles few weeks ago, so I needed a little time to adopt the game, again. We had up-and-downs, but We managed to came back. Thanks for the encouragement of those who came out to cheer today “– says Timi.


In the 39-minute first set Cepelova and Krajcikova led 2:1, and 3:2, with a break. Buth the first seed Hungarian-Czech pair both times came back immediately.


After the second break, Timi and Safarova jumped to a 5:3 lead, buth then they lost two games. The opponent saved a total of three set points.


At the deciding part of the first set, Timi and Safarova played well, they broke the opponent for the third time. And they won the sixth set point.


At the beginning of the second set, Cepelova and Krajcikova led with a break again, but the opponent came back strongly. Timi and her partner jumped to a 4:2 lead, then saved their service game from 0-40.


After 5:3, the first seed pair hold the service game from 15-30, so they finished the match.


In the quarter-final, Timi and Safarova will meet Ágnes Bukta and Fanny Stollár.


Ágnes Bukta (born: 29 October 1993) is ranked 262nd, so far, she has won 18 ITF events in doubles.


Fanny Stollár (born: 12 November 1998) is ranked 299th. So far, she has won 4 ITF tournaments in this genre.
