Wimbledon 2021: farewell in Ladies’ Doubles

01/07/2021 – Diyas and  Rodionova played much better and were more accurate behind the serves and as a receiver.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (GRAND SLAM TOURNAMENT, 35 016 000 GBP, GRASS), LADIES’ DOUBLES, ROUND 1:
Zarina Diyas, Arina Rodionova (Kazahh, Australian)-Tímea Babos, Kristina Mladenovic (Hungarian, French, 2) 6:1, 6:2

The match lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes.

Unfortunately, throughout, Diyas and Rodionova served and received sharper and more accurately, surpassing their opponents from the baseline as well as at the net.

In the 36-minute first set, the Kazakh-Australian double pulled to 4:0, winning the 2nd seeds serve to 30 and to 40. At this point, Timi, playing with a huge bandage on her left thigh, brought her serve smoothly, but after that they was unable to take advantage of another break chance. Moreover, after 1:5, Mladenovic lost her own game again.

Unfortunately, the second act didn’t change either. Diyas and Rodionova played calmly, accurately and patiently while the opponent struggled. After another early break, the Kazakh-Australian duo led to 3:0, after which Mladenovic saved her serve from two break opportunities, but there was no chance of a translation.

Then after 6:1, 5:2, Diyas and Rodionova broke the French player again, so the big surprise came.
