The match lasted 1 hour and 28 minutes.
“I’m sorry for this match! Our opponent played very well and deservedly reached the final. There is really no excuse for not getting to a break ball. But I think I have finished a good grassy season in general, and I am glad that I am on the right track again. I must to go further! Now a few days’ rest is coming, so I canceled the previously planned clay court tournaments. I’ll be going overseas a little bit earlier, I will work hardly with coach Michael Joyce. I’ll start the hard-court season in San Jose” – said Timi.
Unfortunately, the Hungarian-French pair’s series was broken, and they failed to get into the Grand Slam final for the fourth time in a row. Timi and Kristina Mladenovic fought hard and with a big heart, but the opponent was a little better.
In the 47-minute first set, both pair served well and didn’t give the opponent a chance. None of the teams were close to broke. So the tie-break decided.
The tie-break started with Timi’s and Kiki’s receiver’s point, but then they lost both of the serves. They came back to 2-2, but the opponent’s next break settled th eset. The Taiwanese-Czech stay strong and fintoshed th eset after 6-5.
Unfortunately, the first game of the second set decided everything. The Taiwanese-Czech couple won their opponent’s serve to 15, and had another break point int he third game. This was countered by the Hungarian-French pair, and then they did everything to get back.
Sadly, Hsieh and Strýcová were very effective and then after 5:3 got two match balls. This game was finally rescued by Timi and Kiki, but afterwards they won only two rallies.
