WIMBLEDON (GRAND SLAM TOURNAMENT, 34 000 000 GBP, GRASS), LADIES’ DOUBLES, QUARTER-FINAL
Alicja Rosolska, Abigail Spears (Polish, American)-Tímea Babos, Kristina Mladenovic (Hungarian, French, 1) 7:6 (7-4), 6:3

The match lasted for 1 hour and 26 minutes.

“Of course, I’m really sorry about today’s match. I think the opponent played very well. We did not really find a way to be better, especially as receivers. It’s hard to say something more. But I really feel that Rosolska and Spears deserved to win because they played well” – said Timi.

In the 55-minute first set, both doubles were confident behind the serves. At 2:2, the Hungarian-French pair had a total of three break points after 15-40. Rosolska and Spears saved their own game, then had a set point as a receiver in the 12th game. Timi and Kristina Mladenovic finally defended their serve, so came the tie-break.

The first seeded pair led 2-0, but after that, the opponent won four rallies in a row. Rosolska and Spears got three more set point at 6-3, and they finished the opening act after 6-4.

The second set did not bring the hoped U-turn. The Polish-American pair lost their early break advantage, after 2:0. The Hungarian-French team led 3:2, but they did not win any more game…

Rosolska and Spears broke the opponent to 15 after 3:3, then won the ninth game as a receiver to 30.
