Wimbledon 2017: Wozniacki is the opponent in singles

30/06/2017 – The former World No1 is ranked 6th in the latest world rankings.


On Friday, the main draws were made for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year at Wimbledon: Timi’s opponent will be the 5th seed Caroline Wozniacki.


“I got a top player as My opponent. Caro is a good player and she is playing very well lately. Probably, the match will be at a Grand Court. I will go on for the match without nothing to lose, but I definitely want to play a good match. I like Wimbledon because I have good memories of this tournament” – said Timi.


The Danish player (born: 11 July, 1990), is currently ranked 6th in the world rankings, and her career best position was 1 (11 October 2010). Up to now she has won 25 WTA and 4 ITF competitions.


Wozniacki was finalist at the US Open in 2009 and 2014. In Wimbledon in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015, she reached the 4th round, these are her best results at the event. Last year, she lost in the opening round, 7:5, 6:4 against Svetlana Kuznetsova.


This year, Wozniacki was finalists in Doha (Qatar, 776 000 USD, hard court) in Dubai (United Arab Emirates, 2 666 000 USD, hard court), and Miami (United States, 6 993 400 USD, hard court). At the Australian Open she lost in the 3rd round and at the Roland Garros she reached the QF.


The former world leader started the grass court season at Eastbourne and she is playing in the semifinal against Heather Watson on Friday.




In doubles Timi and Andrea Hlaváčková’ will meet the British pair of Katie Boulter and -Katie Swan. The will start with a wild-card at Wimbledon.


Boulter (born: 1 August, 1996) is ranked 813rd, her career best position was 473 (24 November 2014). Up to now she has won 4 ITFs.


Swan (born: 24 March, 1999) is ranked 367th in the world ranking, her career best position was 366 (19 June, 2017). So far, she has not won a professional tournament in doubles.
