08/07/2015 – Timi and Kristina Mladenovic won in three sets against Hsieh Su Wei and Flavia Pennetta in the quarter-final of the Ladies’ Doubles at Wimbledon.
The meeting lasted 1 hour 41 minutes. The 4th seed Hungarian-French pair will meet the 2nd seed Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the last four.

“It was a very tough match. But I feel that we played well. And in the important moments we were the better! Let’s go for the semifinal! We will play with a tough opponent, but I can not wait!”– said Timi.
Timi and Mladenovic began very well the the 31-minute first set! The Hungarian player wins the serve from 15-40 and then they gave no chance for the opponent. They broke twice Hsieh and Pennetta, they jumped to a 5:0 lead.
And came the turnaround…The Taiwanese-Italian duo won three games in a row, they broke Mladenovic after 40-0, they saved a total of four set points. But they couldn’t had a chance to equalize. Timi hold her service game easily.
The 34-minute second set was much more close. Hsieh and Pennetta played better and better, and they gave no chance behind the serves. Unfortunately, the only break came after 5:4, Timi couldn’t hold her service game…
Fortunately, the final set brought another turnaround. Timi and Mladenovic broke the opponent twice, they jumped to a 4:1 lead. Then the French player lost her service game , but the next two service game was successful. Timi hold her service to 30, then after 5:4 Mladenovic lost only one rally. So they closed the quarter-final.
The Hungarian-French duo’s next opponent will be Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.
The 27-year-old Makarova is ranked 3rd, this is her career best so far. During her career she has won 6 WTA and 9 ITF event in doubles. She was the Champion of the Roland Garros (2013) and US Open (2014) with her current partner.
The 28-year old Vesnina is also ranked 3rd, this is her career best. So far, she has won 11 WTA and 11 ITF tournament.
This year they played in the final in Indian Wells and Miami. The duo of Makarova and Vesnina was a quarter-finalist at the Australian Open, and was semifinalist at the Roland Garros.
