Wimbledon 2015: great battle and victory in singles!

29/06/2015 – After three years Timi again won a singles match at a Grand Slam tournament, she defeated in two sets the qualifier Petra Cetkovska in the first round at Wimbledon.

The match lasted 1 hour 23 minutes. The 22-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Serena Williams.

“I’m very happy that finally I won a match in singles at a main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. In the first set I did not play very well, I was too nervous properly. But then in the second set I played well, even though my opponent broke Me early. I am happy and excited! Thanks everyone for the support”– said Timi.

 

The 22-year old Hungarian player began the match with two double faults, and she faced three break points at 0-40 in the opening game. And she saved them, and after that she played better and better.

 

Cetkovska also hold her service games, so the tie-break decided the fate of the opening set.

 

The Czech player broke her opponent at 2-2, but then she lost her next two service points. Cetkovska equalized to 5-5, from 5-3. But the next two points was won by Timi, so she had a set advantage.

 

The second set was different. Timi immediately lost her serve game, and Cetkovska jumped to a 3:0 lead. After that the Hungarian youngster took the control, she won six games in a row. Timi broke her opponent three times. So she advanced to the last 64 at Wimbledon.

 

The 22-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Serena Williams.

 

The 33-yer old old legend so far won 20 Grand Slam event in singles, she triumphed at Wimbledon in 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2012. This year she was the Champion at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, she has a big chance for the career Grand Slam. She was the Olympic Champion in 2012 at Wimbledon, she won five times the year-ending WTA Finals. First time, she led the World Rankings on 8 July 2002.

 

Timi already met Serena Williams, in doubles. At last year’s US Open the Hungarian player and Kristina Mladenovic lost in the first round against Serena and Venus Williams, 7:6, 6:7, 6:1.
