|THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (WIMBLEDON, GRAND SLAM EVENT, GRASS), MIXED DOUBLES, FINAL|
|Martina Hingis, Leander Paes (Swiss, Indian, 7)-Tímea Babos, Alexander Peya (Hungarian, Austrian, 5) 6:1, 6:1|
The Swiss and Indian tennis legend, gave no chance to the Hungarian-Austrian duo. Hingis and Paes played very well, they had a lot of technical and wit shot, they constantly “broke down” the opponent’s defense.
Unfortunately, Timi and Peya made a lot of mistake, rarely proved their skills. In the first 19-minute and second 21-minute set the Austrian player hold his service game once each.
Peya hold his game at 1:0, and after 6:1, 4:0…In the end Timi saved one match point after 0-40 down, but after that Paes hit a wonderful return, he gave no chance for the Hungarian youngster.
It was the third Mixed Doubles title for Hingis: she won the Australian Open in 2006 (Co: Mahesh Bhupathi) and in 2015 (Co: Paes).
The 42-year old Indian player won his ninth title in Mixed Doubles: he celebrated at the Australian Open in 2003 (Co: Martina Navratilova), in 2010 (Co: Cara Black) and in 2015, at Wimbledon in 1999 (Co: Lisa Raymond), in 2003 ( Co: Navratilova) and 2010 (Co: Black) and at the US Open in 2008 (Co: Black). Paes was runner-up eight times.
According to the plans, Timi next week will play in Bucharest at the 250 000 USD clay court event. Her opponent in the first round is the 2nd seed Roberta Vinci from Italy.
