Wimbledon 2015: Czech opponent in singles

26/06/2015 – On Friday the main draw was made in singles at the grass court Grand Slam-event: Timi’s opponent will be the qualifier Petra Cetkovska.


“The draw was made. A former Top30 player, who is recurring from injuries, but recently playing well, so she is Cetkovska. Of course, I do everything for the victory! We’ll see”– said Timi.


The 22-year-old Hungarian player is ranked 93rd, while her Czech rival is ranked 161st. The winner of that meeting will play against the qualifier Margaryta Gasparyan or Serena Williams in the next round.


Cetkovska’s career best position was 25 (June 18, 2012). So far, she has won 22 ITF tournament in singles. The 30-year old Czech player missed several months due to injuries, between last year’s US Open and this season’s Indian Wells event.


In Wimbledon Cetkovska won against Renata Voracova (6:1, 6:1), Donna Vekic (2:6, 6:4, 6:1) and Elise Mertens (6:3, 6:2). Four years ago she reached the last 16 in the grass court Grand Slam event. Last year she lost in the second round.


Timi has never met Cetkovska.


The 22-year old Hungarian player in 2012 reached the second round in singles, while in 2013 and 2014 she lost in the opening round. Last year in doubles Timi was a finalist with Kristina Mladenovic. This season again the French player will be her partner, in Mixed Doubles she will play with Alexander Peya from Austria.


In Ladies Doubles Timi and Mladenovic will meet Magda Linette and Mandy Minella in the first round.


The 23-year old Linette is ranked 105, her career best was 104 (15 June 2015) was. The Polish player has won eight ITF doubles tournament. This year her best result was the semifinal in Katowice (Poland, 250 000 USD, carpet, Co: Alize Cornet).


The 29-year-old Minella is ranked 83rd, her career best was 47 (29 April 2013). So far, she has won 2 WTA and 6 ITF event in this genre. She won the 2 WTA tournament with Timi, back in 2013: in Bogota and in Marrakech
