07/07/2015 – After the success in Ladies’ Doubles Timi also reached the quarter-final at Wimbledon in Mixed Doubles.

The 22-year old Hungarian player and Alexander Peya won in two sets, in 71 minutes against Olga Savchuk and Oliver Marach. Timi and Peya will meet the second seed Sainia Mirza and Bruno Soares in the last eight.

In the 25-minute opening set Timi and Peya broke the opponent in the fourt game, after 0-40 they lived with the third chance. And it was the only time, when a player couldn’t hold the service game.

 

The 22-year old Hungarian player and her Austrian partner confidently hold the break advantage, at 5:3 they won their service game to 15.

 

The second set was also very close. Fortunately, Timi and Peya was the better at the most important moments. At 5:4 they Austrian player hold his service game from 0-40, he saved three set points. Soon came the tie-break.

 

At the beginning of the tie-break Savchuk and Marach broke the opponent, then came the turn-over. Timi and Peya led 5-3, and had a match point at 6-5. The opponent equalized, but after 7-6 Marach couldn’t hit back Timi’s serve. So the fifth seed pair reached the last eight.

 

Timi and Peya will meet the second seed Sania Mirza and Bruno Soares in the quarter-final.

 

The 28-year old Indian player is the World No1 since the 13th of April 2015. Throughout her career she has won 26 WTA and 4 ITF event in doubles. She triumphed in 3 Grand Slam tournament in Mixed Doubles: in 2009 at the Australian Open (Co: Mahesh Bhupathi), in 2012 at Roland Garros (Co: Bhupathi) and in 2014 at the US Open (Co: Soares).

 

The 33-year old Soares is ranked 14th, his career best was 3 (7 October 2013). So far, he has won 19 ATP event in doubles. Two years ago he was a finalist in Mixed Doubles at Wimbledon (Co: Lisa Raymond), he triumphed at the US Open in 2012 (Co: Ekaterina Makarova) and in 2014. The Brazilian player is a constant partner of Alexander Peya in men’s doubles.
