Timi and Andrea Hlaváčková started badly in the 26-minute opening set. They lost their serve three times, to 30, to 40, then to 0. So, Ostapenko and Srebotnik led 5:0…Then the Hungarian-Czech double won two games, and then had two break point. But without success.
The 27-minute second act has brought a great turn! Timi and Hlaváčková served and received very well, Behind the serves, the Hungarian-Czech double lost only four rallies, they hold the last servive game to 40. In the meantime, they broke the times the serve of the current Roland Garros Champ, Ostapenko and the 2011 Wimbledon doubles Champ, Srebotnik. After 5:0, the third seed pair broke the opponent to 30.
In the decisive tie-break, Timi and Andrea Hlaváčková lost two service point, but they broke the opponent five times. After 8-5, the Hungarian-Czech double ended the quarter-final with two receiver’s point.
The 3rd seed pair will meet Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua in Friday’s semifinal.
Barty (born: 24 April, 1996), is ranked 21st, with a career best position of 12 (9 September, 2013). So far, she has won 5 WTA and 9 ITFs in doubles. In 2013 at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open, and this year at Roland Garros was a finalist with. She had a career break between 2014 and 2016. This year she won three tournaments with Dellacqua: in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia, 250 000 USD, hard court), in Strasbourg (France, 250 000 USD, clay) and Birmingham (England, 891 000 USD, grass).
Dellacqua (born: 11 February, 1985) is ranked 20th, with a career best position of 3 (1 February, 2016). So far, she has won 7 WTA and 23 ITFs in doubles. She is a seven times Grand Slam finalist in this genre. In addition to the achievements with Barty, she reached the last match in 2008, at the Roland Garros (Co: Francesca Schiavone) and in 2015 again in Paris and then at the US Open, both with Yaroslava Shvedova.
