07/06/2014 – The second seed Timea Babos won in two sets against the wild cardist Harriet Dart in the first round of the quali at the 710 000 USD Aegon Classic in Birmingham.
The match lasted 1 hour 12 minutes. The 21-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be the British Katy Dunne, who won against the 10th seed Alize Lim 6:7, 6:2, 6:4.

At the first part of the opening set the 17-year old British player gave a difficult task to Timi. The second seed Hungarian youngster served very well, but had no chance as a receiver, til 3:3. In the eight game Timi led 40-15 and broke the rival to 30.
Then at 5:3 the Hungarian player won her service game to 0.
The opening game of the second set gave a real thriller. Timi led 40-0 as a receiver, but she couldn’t lived with the chances. The British teen saved a total of 7 (!) break points, but at last she lost her service gave after 20 minutes.
Then the local player saved one break point at 2:0, then another three break points at 3:1. But after that Timi served well and broke the rival at 4:2. Then she won the last service game to 0.
Timi will meet in the next round the 19-year old Katy Dunne, who surprisingly won against the 10th seed Alize Lim. The young British player is ranked 483rd, her best position was 482 (05.05.2014). Last year she won an ITF event in Rethymo (Greece, 10 000 USD) and Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt, 10 000 USD).
Dunne was a semifinalist in this year’s season in Glasgow (10 000 USD), Gloucester (10 000 USD), and twice in Sharm el-Sheikh (10 000 USD). The 19-year old British player this week started at the 75 000 USD tournament in Nottingham. In the first round she won against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (6:4, 0:6, 6:1), then lost against Kristyna Plyskova (6:3, 6:3).
