Vancouver: smooth victory in the QF

The match lasted 64 minutes in Vancouver.

 

It was the third 2019 meeting of the players and it was the smoothest victory from one of them.

 

Hon led 2:1 in the 27-minute first set, when came the decisive change. The very stable Hungarian player broke to 30 after 2:2, she lived with the second chance.

 

Then Timi won her serve to 0, and in the seventh game she lost only a single rally as a receiver. After that, she hold her own game to 30.

 

At the beginning of the second set, after 1:1 the Hungarian player broke her opponent to 30 again, and hold easily that lead till 4:3. Then came the decisive game. Hon had a total of three break points, but without success. Finally, the Hungarian player hold her serve, then broke her opponent after 30-0.

 

Timi’s opponent in the semifinal will be the 3rd seeded Sara Sorribes Tormo.

 

The Spanish player (born: 8 October, 1996) is 89th in the World Rankings, she has a career best position of 64th (10 June, 2019). So far, Sorribes Tormo has won 7 ITF tournaments.
