US Open 2019: another smooth victory in doubles

The match lasted 62 minutes in New York.

 

In the 27-minute first set, the Hungarian-French couple left the opponent behind after 1:1, although in the third game they had to save a break point. Then, after 2:1, Timi and Kristina Mladenovic won their opponents’ serve by 15 and then broke them to 40 in the sixth game.

 

The last game was won by the Hungarian-French pair to 30.

 

The second set was already tighter. In the opening game, Timi and her partner broke to 40 and kept that advantage.

 

The Hungarian-French double handed themselves confidently, and after 5:3 had three matchballs as a receiver. This was countered by the opponent, and in the the result was 30-30. Finally, Timi and Kiki Mladenovic closed the match.

 

The 1st seeded pair’s next opponent will be Anna Kalinskaya and Yulia Putintseva.

 

The Russian player (born: 2 December, 1998) is 90th in the World Rankings, has a career best position of 88th (5 August, 2019). Kalinskaya has won 1 WTA Tour and 8 ITF tournaments far. Three years ago, on the side of Terezá Mihalíková (Slovakia) won the junior doubles tournament at the Australian Open.
