Tímea Babos, Kristina Mladenovic (Hungarian, French, 2)-Lucie Hradecká, Ekaterina Makarova (Czech, Russian, 6) 7:6 (7-5), 6:2

The match lasted 1 hour 29 minutes in New York.

“I’m really happy for today’s win, We had an incredibly difficult QF. We lost the last meeting against them. Kiki started the match slower, which she also said. But after that she played very well! In important situations, We have made good decisions. That’s why I’m very, very happy. I was extremely happy with winning, it was an important step in our game. As I said earlier, We have worked hard to be better off in the rest of the season. I’m glad that what we’ve been talking about it is working” – said Timi.

You can taste the words: Timi is semifinalist at in the US Open among adults, for the first time! A great success after another great match! And on Tuesday it was clear that there was a big difference between the events, Western & Southern Open is not the US Open. Recently in Cincinnati, Hradecká and Makarova won in three sets against Timi and Kiki Mladenovic in the QF, but the story was totally different now!

However, in New York, the match did not start well for the 2nd seeded, Australian Open Champion double. In the opening game, the Czech-American double broke to 40, then led 3:1. Then Timi and Kiki Mladenovic won their opponent’s serve to 30 in the sixth game, but then lost theirs again. This was not crucial, because they came back immediately, then after 4:4, they hold their own games.

Unfortunately, at 5:4, Hradecká and Makarova saved a set point, and soon came the tie-break. In the decisive period, Timi and her French partner won the opponent’s serve after 1-1, and they hold that little advantage. In the end, the opponent came up from 6-3 to 6-5, but the next point and set was was won by the 2nd seeded team.

The second act was more smoothly formed. Timi and Kiki Mladenovic started with a break, and they did not even worry that the advantage had disappeared at 2:2. The Hungarian-French pair won the opponent’s serve twice (both times to 40) and after 5:2, they hold their own game to 0.

The next opponent of Timi and Kiki Mladenovic will be Shuai Chang (China) and Samantha Stosur (Australia).
