The match lasted 1 hour 8 minutes in New York.
The Hungarian-Brazilian double started very well the 31-minute first set. Timi and Soares broke the opponent to 40, then served almost perfectly. The 4th place lost only a few rallies behind the serves, did not give the opponent a chance. Timi and Soares won their service game to 30 at 5:4, closed the opening act.
Unfortunately, the 24-minute second set has brought a big change. The serves of the the Hungarian-Brazilian were already vulnerable, and the two player could not balance this as receiver’s. After 1:0, Vandeweghe and Tecău broke to 40, then in the sixth game to 30. The US-Romanian pair finished the set to 0, at 5:1.
At the beginning of the decisive tie-break, Timi and Soares won twice the opponent’s serve (2-0, 4-2), then led to 5-3. Unfortunately, then the rival was better off, turning to 7-5. The Hungarian-Brazilian pair came back to 7-7, but after that Vandeweghe and Tecău were more accurate. The American-Romanian pair broke the opponent (9-7), and then closed the quarter-final behind their own serve.
