US Open 2013 : Timi played a good match, but Vinci won

27/08/2013 – There was no surprise in the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.

The meeting lasted 1 hour 14 minutes. The 20- year-old Hungarian player will play in also doubles in the US Open with Francesca Schiavone.

“I am not discouraged , because I was not the favourite of that match ! Instead, I regret that I did not won the first set . At 4:3 I had good chance, but a couple of minor errors and a let helped Vinci for the break. But overall it was not a bad match . It was a breeze , this confused my serve a bit . And had problems with playing against the upwind. It was a good match, I enjoyed it. I will play doubles, I can not wait for it! “– Timi said after the match.


Thursday’s draw did not favor Timi , she “got” one of the most accomplished and versatile player in the field as an opponent . The 30- year-old Vinci played dozens of times at the US Open , while Hungarian opponent just tried third time among adults.


However, in the 44-minute first set Timi mostly played well, immediately broke the Italian and led 3:1. The 10th seed fought back to level 3:3. But after that the 107th ranked rival won her rival ‘s serve. At 4:3 Timi had game point, but unfortunately not lived with opportunity.


Vinci broke back again, then at then 5:4 confidently won the set as a receiver.


In the second game of the second set Timi saved wo break points, then won again Vinci’s serve. Unfortunately she could not keep the lead and her opponent finally took the control. The young Hungarian player tried everything , but couldn’t come back to the match.


Timi will play also in doubles: with Francesca Schiavone she will fight against Oksana Kalashnikova and Alicja Rosolska.
