US Open 2013: Timi and Schiavone lost in doubles

30/08/2013 – Timi finished her appearance at the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.

The match lasted 1 hour 21 minutes at the US Open.

Timi and Francesca Schiavone began the tournament with a nice victory on Thursday in New York, however, they continued on Friday against a very difficult opponent. They played with one of the most experienced and successful duo, which inadvertently highlighted with the 6th place on the seeding list …


The Hungarian-Italian duo played bravely in the second round, but in the 40-minute first set they barely score a point as a receiver. Groenefeld and Peschke got he early break at 1:1 and they hold it through the set.


In the early part of the second set Timi and Schiavone had the control, they broke to 0 at 1:0, and led 3:0! Unfortunately, the much more experienced rival came back strongly, they won five games in a row.


Then Timi and Francesca Schiavone won the next game, and as a receiver they saved four match points. But it was not enough. Groenefeld and Pechke lived with the fifth opportunity and reached the last 16 of the doubles tournament at the US Open. With the defeat he young Hungarian finished her appearance in New York.


Timi’s next tournament will be the 235 USD Tashkent Open, and after that she will play in two events in China.
