TEB BNP PARIBAS ISTANBUL CUP (250 000 USD, CLAY), SINGLES, 2ND ROUND
Çağla Büyükakçay (Turkish)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 2) 6:4, 7:6 (7-5)

The match lasted 2 hours and 1 minute in Istanbul.

Timi missed a big chance at the beginning of the 46-minute first set. In the second game she led 40-0 as a receiver, but unfortunately she did not use any of the opportunities. This quickly swore … Büyükakçay broke her to 15 in the next game, and then kept her advantage till the end of the opening act.

The Hungarian player could have returned to the set, but she lost two break points at 4:5…

The second set has brought even tighter and bigger battle. The defending champion quickly won her opponent’s serve, but lost this advantage after 2:1. But Timi did not really play well, so many errors came after the winners. In the ninth game she saved a break point, but after 5:5, she could not hold her service game. Then she played really agressively, and broke back immediately.

Unfortunately, the tie-break did not brought a turn … Büyükakçay led almost all way, and reached two match points at 6-4. Then she hit a backhand error, but in the next rally Timi did it also. So the match was finished with the unexpected Turkish triumph.
