19/02/2017 – In Doubles, Timi and Lucie Safarova will meet the duo of Cepelova and Krejcikova.
On Sunday afternoon at the Ronald McDonald House in Budapest the main draw was made for singles at the 250 000 USD Hungarian Ladies Open: Timi’s opponent will be Ipek Soylu.
The 23-year old Hungarian player is ranked 33rd and seeded 1st at the event.
Soylu (born: 15 April 1996) Soylu is currently ranked 163 in the world rankings, has a career best position of 151 (31 October 2016). So far she has won eight ITF competition.
This year the Turkish player has not played a main draw match in singles. In Auckland (New Zealand 250 000 USD, hard court) she lost in the second qualifying round, while she was defeated in the opening round of the qualies at the Australian Open.
“You never talk about after the draw, that it is easy or difficult. I hope I will succeed in my home tournament with the support of the local fans. I trained on the center court, and it seems that the surface suits Me” said Timi after the singles draw.
At the Hungarian Ladies Open, Lucie Safarova will be the second seed. So far, she has won 7 tournaments. Safarova was finalist at the 2015 Roland Garros. She is four time Grand Slam winner in doubles, every time with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The Czech player will start in Budapest with Timi. They won the 2014 event in Sydney, in the final they defeated the World No 1 pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
In Budapest, the Hungarian-Czech duo will meet Jana Cepelova and Barbora Krejcikova.
Cepelova (born: 29 May 1993) is ranked 427th, her career best position was 158 (18 May 2015). The Slovak player has won three ITF competition in this genre.
Krejcikova (born: 18 December 1995) is ranked 44th, her career best position was 26 (12 September 2016). The Czech player has won 1 WTA and 19 ITF doubles competition.
