|Tímea Babos, Andrea Hlaváčková (Hungarian, Czech, 1) – Nina Stojanovic, Maryna Zanevska (Serbian, Belgian) 2:6, 6:3, 10-5|
The final lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes in Rabat.
“We did not play well, but the most important is the victory! This also shows good teamwork 🙂 I’m happy with the new title” – said Timi.
In the 33-minute first set Timi and Hlaváčková served with a little success…The Hungarian player lost her service game twice, while her Czech partner once, all time to 40. And the Serbian-Belgian pair won the eight game to 0, so they easily finished the opening act.
Stojanovic and Zanevska also started well the second set. They broke the Czech player twice, and they led 3:2. But it was crucial, that the first seed pair had also a break.
Then, after 2: 3, the big change came. Timi and Hlaváčková played better and better behind the serves and as a receiver. Stojanovic and Zanevska lost the control, and twice their serve. The first sedd pair broke twice to 40, then they closed the set to 40.
And the decisive tie-break fortunately developed smoothly from the point of view of the Hungarian-Czech dual. Timi and Andrea Hlaváčková pulled with three breaks to 5-0, then they hold that big lead. Stojanovic and Zanevska tried to come back, but without big chance. Finally, the Hungarian-Czech double used the third match ball.
It is Timi’s third triumph in Morocco: in 2013 she won with Mandy Minella (Luxembourg) and in 2015 with Kristina Mladenovic (France). Both times in Marrakech. The victory in Rabat is the Hungarian player’s 12th doubles title at the WTA Tour, she won 1 WTA125’s and 9 ITF events.
