Timi won the dramatic final in Poitiers

26/10/2014 – After a huge battle Timea Babos won in three sets against Océane Dodin the final of the 100,000 USD ITF tournament in France.

The match lasted two hours 24 minutes. The 21-year old Hungarian player has won 12 times in singles ITF tournament.

“It’s was a very big tournament, very big victories!!! I’m very happy! It was a difficult match, a lot of turns, a lot of close games with a lot of aces! I’m just happy with that, I could win a tournament at this level”– said the Hungarian player.


The 21-year old Hungarian began very well, she lost only one rally til 3:0. She broke her rival easily, but after 3:1 she lost that lead. Timi broke back to 4:2, but then Dodin won the neyt game.


In the eight game the Hungarian player broke again, and after that she hold her service game, although Dodin had a break point. Timi lived with the fourth set point.


Int he 47-minute second set both player served very well, til 4:4. Dodin again won her service game, then she broke Timi to 6:4. The French wildcardist equalized to 1-1…


Int he final set Timi had an early break advantage, but Dodin fought back to 3:3. Then the French teen had a total of 5 break point at 4:3, but her opponent saved that crucial game.


After 5:5 Timi reached two break points, and she won the second. At 6:5 she led 40-0, and she finished the match at 40-15 with the 29th ace(!!!).


It is the Hungarian player’s 12th singles title at an ITF event.
