Timi won in two sets in the Suzhou heat

06/08/2013 – After last week’s final in Donetsk Timi now play sin China, she’s the first seed of the 125 000 WTA-event in Suzhou.

The World No 96 Hungarian player defeated in the first round in two sets the wild-cardist Zhu Lin. Timi’s next opponent will be the Slovakian Michaela Honcova.

“It was a difficult few days, I travelled like 30 hours and I only arrived here yesterday evening. The courts and the conditions here are very different and I’m still getting used to everything. It was a tough match for me but somehow I managed to win, which is the most important thing and hopefully I can have another good week.” – Timi said after the match.


The weather is so warm in the Chinese city, 40 degrees is not uncommon for several days. So many matches was interrupted, Timi and her opponent also „fought” against the hot.


In the hour and 24-minute meeting the Hungarian player broke her opponent’s serve four times, while she lost her own only twice. Timi took Zhu’s serve twice-twice int he first and second set. The first seed won 72 percent of her first and 57 percend of the second serve. Timi had four aces and one double fault.


The 20-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be the 256th ranked Michaela Honcova. The 20-year-old Slovakian have never had such a good place.


During his career Honcova won four ITF singles: she triumphed in 2010 in Horb am Neckar and Stockholm, in 2011 in Tallinn, while this year in Essen (10 000 USD). At the beginning of the 2013 season she reached the last eight at the French Andrezieux-Boutheon (25 000 USD), and Casablanca (25 000 USD). After the victory in Essen she was a semifinalist in Denain (25 000 USD). She reached the main draw at two WTA tournaments (Marrakech, Bad Gastein) from the qualies. Inhas come up with the main draw, defeating Morocco with Maria Joao Morocco she won against Maria Joao Koehler and Teliana Pereira. In Budapest’s Hungarian Grand Prix she lost int he first round against Chanelle Scheepers.


Now in Suzhou Honcova won 3:6, 6:4, 6:4 in the opening round against China’s Zhang Yuxuan.
