Timi will not start in Linz due to illness

03/10/2013 – In contrast to the original plans Timi will not play in the 235 000 USD tournament in Austria at the Generali Ladies Linz.

The World No 106 Hungarian player struggled with a viral disease in recent days, which virtually blocked the preparation.

“I regret that I can not play a tournament in Linz, but it’s a reasonable solution. Sunday I began to fell the illness. That’s why I missed the work-outs on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday tried to play 45 minutes because I felt better. We already planned 2 times 1 hour work-out for Wednesday, but there was no chance, it felt weak. And at night I felt worse, so I went to the doctor immediately on Thursday. It turned out that It was not a simple cold, but some virus from China, so gave me antibiotics. Obviously, it’s not a joke, I can not play any sports. So of course I canceled the tournament in Linz. Next week I will try to start the preparation, in Luxembourg I would like to start”– said the 20-year-old Hungarian player.

The tournament in Luxembourg between 1991 and 1995 was an exhibition event, in 1991 and 1992 Jana Novotna was the champion, in 1993 and 1994, Martina Navratilova, in 1995 Sabine Appelmans won.

In the past one and a half decades, the retired Kim Clijsters was the most successful in singles, won five times between 1999 and 2005, without losing a set in the final.
