“I’m very happy! As they say from the old times: the rally went enormously :)) 🙂 That’s it:) “- Timi said happily after the finale.
“First, I think this was a good start of a new relationship. Timi won doubles and 3 matches in singles. I learnt a lot about Timi as a person and as a player that will help us in the future. Timi and Mandy had to save match points in previous 2 matches where they showed us a lot of courage, fight and willingness to adopt. In the final Timi and Mandy played on another level and I think it tool 5 games before Timi missed the first shot. At the end of the first set it felt like Martic and Mladenovic raised the level, but after they broke Martic in the first game of the second Timi and Mandy took full control over the match. I saw a lot of improvement since Miami and I hope that trend will continue in South Africa, which can give us wings for the Roland Garros. “- said the new member of TIMI TEAM, Nikola Andjelic.
In February Timi and Mandy Minella won together first time in Bogota, they had much more easier road to the success. In Marrakech they won the first three matches in three sets, in the quarter- and semifinal they saved match points.
However, the final was almost an exhibition match! Timi and Mandy played very well, did not give opponents a chance.
The first set was relatively close, but only relatively. Timi and Mandy broke the rival at 2:1, and hold the lead safely. In the ninth game they saved two break points, with the second they won the set.
The second set was easz! The third seeds immediately broke the Croatian-French duo and done the same at 2:0. Martic and Mladenovic tried everything, but there was no chance of a turnaround. Timi and Mandy Minella quickly closed the final, which was much smoother than expected!
The 19-year-old Hungarian tennis player last year won the singles in Monterrey, the doubles in Birmingham with Hsieh Su-Wei. This year Timi won twice with Mandy Minella and few weeks ago with Kimiko Date-Krumm in Monterrey.
