03/01/2014 – Timi lost in two sets against the eight seed Lauren Davis in the first round of the qualifying tournament of the 710 000 USD Apia International.
The meeting lasted one hour 27 minutes in Sydney.

“I really appreciate positively today’s match! I am happy that I could finally play after so many sick! Davis is in great shape, in Auckland she was in the last 8, so I am absolutely not in despair. I think that I feel very good the game, I can start working out again, without any obstacles. The doubles will also help . Today I played a good match compared to the previous problems. I am absolutely positive with my game and I look forward to the next matches”– said Timi.
In the 45-minute first set, the World Number 88 Hungarian player fought very well. She was ahead till 4:4, she had three break points. Unfortunately, she did not take advantage of the chances, then the American player broke her immediately. This break determined the fate of the first act.
At the beginning of the second set Timi lost her serve from a game point. After that Davis won easily her service games, and at 4:2 she had three break points. However, Timi with tremendous fortitude saved them and came up to 4:3!
Unfortunately, this did not bother the American , who won her service game again and broke her rival to 30 in the last game, which closed the match.
The young Hungarian will play doubles in Sydney with Lucie Safarova. The 26- year-old Czech player currently 18th in the WTA Rankings. Her carrer best was 17th, in 06.10.2013. She played four finals at the WTA Tour: she won in 2012 and 2013 in Charleston with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Kristina Mladenovic. In the 2013 season she was the champion in Madrid with Pavlyuchenkova.
The Czech and the Russian player was quarter-finalist at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
In the last season Safarova was a semifinalist in Paris (690 000 USD, Co: Pavlyuchenkova), at Brisbane (1 000 000 USD, Co: Pavlyuchenkova) , in Doha ( 2 369 000 USD, Co: Andrea Hlavackova), in Dubai (2 000,000 USD, Co: Pavlyuchenkova) and Eastbourne (690 000 USD, Co: Chan Hao Ching) reached the last eight.
