|Timea Babos (Hungarian, 1)-Pemra Ozgen (Turkish) 6:2, 4:6, 6:1|
“It was not an easy game. Ozgen was uncomfortable opponent, she had many slices from the backhand, she moved well. Of course this does not excuse the fact that I lost the second set. After winning the first set was a momentary lack of concentration, which cost the loss of a service game and later the set. Then again, I was more aggressive and focused in the third set, and I managed to finish the match with 6:1. Anyway I can learn a lot from the match, so I do not mind the final set, “- said Timi.
Timi was the clear favorite, but already the first set set proved to be very difficult. The Turkish player could have break her rival several times. But Timi saved the opponent’s chances, and broke Ozgen twice after 2:2.
The second set was the opposite of the first act…Ozgen won her rival’s service game at 1:1, and after that hold the lead, saving break points. At the beginning of the third set the Turkish player again had a break advantage, but Timi equalized and after that she took control of the match. The first seed won game by game and finally advanced to the last eight.
Timi’s next opponent will be the seventh seed Samantha Murray. The 25-year-old British player is ranked 258th, her career best was at 29th of April (254). She won one ITF tournament in singles.
This year Murray was also quarterfinalist in Preston (10 000 USD) and at Edgbastonban (25, 000 USD).
