On Wednesday, the Municipal Assembly donated eight new Honorary Citizenship titles to people who, through their activities, served the development of Budapest and the growth of its reputation. The proposal submitted by the Mayor was decided by a secret ballot, with a prize of one million forints.
Based on this, the honorary citizen of Budapest can be Tímea Babos tennis player; Kálmán Mészöly fottball player and former Coach of the National Team, Károly Horváth, artist-name Charlie, Liszt Ferenc-winning Hungarian singer; Eszter Horgas flute artist; László Lovász Széchenyi Grand Prize Mathematician, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; and Tamás Vásáry Kossuth Prize-winning pianist.
The prize-winner of the award was posthoumostly István Hazay Kossuth Prize-winning geodesist, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Barna Burger photographist (MTI/Hungarian News Agency).
