Timi and Svedova quarter-finalist in Rome

12/05/2016 – The third seed Hungarian-Kazakh duo’s next opponent will be the pair of Begu and Niculescu.

Timea Babos, Yaroslava Shvedova (Hungarian, Kazakh, 3)-Giovine, Moratelli (Italian) 6:3, 6:2

“I’m very sorry for the singles … I think that Keys played extremely well and, above all, she served very, very well. I do not remember that I had such problems with the returns in recent years. Maybe Serena Williams served like that against Me. But I fought as I could. I’m sorry for that match. Maybe, I discovered a different kind of tactics in connection with the returns a little bit late. But Keys really played very well. I have tried everything. By the end of the day I won in doubles, which is positive. Tennis is an interesting sport. Yesterday I returned to my hotel around midnight, I could not sleep before 2 o’clock, I had to calm down after the match with Venus Williams. Today, half a day later I had to move on the court again and be fulfilled for two games. But I know that this is a sport, I must go on. Thank you for the support” – Timi said after the second match on Thursday.

The match lasted 69 minutes.

In the 34-minute first set both pair struggled with the serves. The Hungarian-Kazakh duo won twice, but lost their service game three times. But it was enough…

Because, the wild-cardist Italian pair lost all their service games, so they had no chance for a surprise.

In the second set Timi and Shvedova served a lot better. They won all their own games, so they had no problem. The Italians tried everything, but their performance was beyond the opponent’s knowledge.

In the last game, Timi and Shvedova saved a total of three break points.

On Friday, the Hungarian-Kazakh duo’s opponent in the quarter-final will be the pair of Irina-Camelia Begu and Monica Niculescu.
