11/09/2013 – Timi and Yaroslava Shvedova confidently won against Michaella Krajicek and Alexandra Panova.
The Kazakh-Hungarian dual lost only three games in 57-minute meeting. Timi and Svedova in Friday’s semifinal will meet the Valeria Savinyikh (position 266 in doubles) – Maria-Teresa Torró-Flor (225) duo. On Thursday the 2nd seed Olga Govortsova-Mandy Minella duo advanced to the final.

“We played a good game, it was a very high quality performance. Both of Us expected a difficult match, we knew, we must play well to win. I’m glad it worked. No match tomorrow, just training. I look forward to the new WTA semifinal”– said Tímea Babos after the match.
The first seeds in Uzbekistan won more confident, than expected, althought the rivals were experienced doubles specialists.
However, Timi and Svedova dominated throughout the meeting, never lost their serve! The quarter-final was close for only a short time, but Krajicek and Panova never had a real chance of winning.
In the 28-minute first set, Timi and Shvedova first broke at 2:1, they used the third chance. Then the first seeds of the Tashkent Open saved their service game from 30-40, then again won the rivals service. At 5:1 they closed the set as a receiver to 40!
At the beginning of the second set Krajicek and Panova hold their chance to 2:2, but after that Timi and Shvedova had the control. At 3:2 the Hungarian-Kazakh duo broke to 40, and at 5:2 used the fourth match ball.
Timi and Svedova in Friday’s semifinal will meet the Valeria Savinyikh (position 266 in doubles) – Maria-Teresa Torró-Flor (225) duo. The Russian-Spanish pair on Thursday reached the last four, defeating 2:6, 6:3, 13-11 the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (59) and Alexandra Cadantu (204).
The 22-year-old Savinyikh career’s best was 109th back in 10.17.2011. So far, she played once in a doubles final of a WTA tournament: this spring on the side of British Anne Keothavong she lost 6:0, 6:4 in Florianopolis, Brazil against Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yaroslava Shvedova. Then the young Russian player three times lost in the first round of a doubles event, in Tashkent interrupted the sequence.
The 21-year-old Torró-Flor’s career best is 218th, 08.12.2013So far, she played once in a doubles final of a WTA tournament: this January on the side of Spanish Garbine Muguruza won 6:3, 7:6, in Hobart, Australia against Timi and Mandy Minella. After that the young Spaniard lost five times in the first round in doubles, she had to wait until Tashkent for the next victories.
Timi this year’s also met with the would-be opponents in singles: she won against Savinyikh 7:6, 6:7, 6:2 in Florianopolis, while defeated Torró-Flor 1:6, 6:4, 7:6 in Budapest!
