“I’m terribly glad to have my first Premier-final! It was a big step today, as the center court , we can play in front of large crowd. It feels good to warm up the court for Del Petro and Kvitova :D! It was a difficult match today, but we played well. We played well, we enjoyed the game. I look forward to the final tomorrow” – Timi said happily after the match.
“I am very happy that Timi is in the final of the premier event. As I said yesterday, the chemistry between Timi and Lucie is excellent and it helps them to go through the matches with a lot of confidence. This was Timi’s first match on a big court after a long time and I was happy that she handled it well. She has not been broken yet, serving close to 200 km/h. I am very happy with that. Lucie had a great start of the match making all the shots. With Timi’s great serving and play at the net they won the first set very comfortably. The beginning of the second set brought weaker returns from both of them, but around 3-2 Timi started to turn the corner in that department. At 5-5 she made all her returns including the one for the break. Tomorrow is going to be another great match. If Timi and Lucie keep this level and keep making the progress, whoever is on the other side of the net will have to play their best tennis to have chance” – rated Timi’s coach, Nikola Andjelic.
The Czech – Hungarian dual started very well the semifinal, they first broke the rival at 1:1 (to 40, taking advantage of the second chance) then at 3:1 (to 40, lived with the third chance). Timi and Safarova has also led5:1, and at 5:2 they won the eight game to 0.
In the second set Goerges and Zahlavova-Strycova served much better, they hold the service games precisely. But it was not enough. At the other side of the net the Hungarian-Czech duo remaining in good shape, then at 5:5 they broke the opponent to 30. In the last game Timi and Lucie Safarova also brought the own service game to 30, so they began to celebrate the semifinal riump in Sydney!
