Timi and Mladenovic quarter-finalist in doubles in Paris

28/01/2014 – Timi and Kristina Mladenovic won after a great battle in three sets against Mona Barthel and Megan Moulton-Levy.

The meeting lasted one hour 18 minutes.

“The start of the match was very difficult … We immediately started with 0:2, but then we managed to come back. At 2:2 we lost an unfortunate game, so they were again a break ahead. That was the key to lose the set. In the second set we played much more tactically, so smoothly equalized. Finally, in the super tie-break we won easily. It was good to play with Kiki, we enjoyed the game. And of course I’m happy with the win as well as I can collect points, and I have a chance to play matches” – Timi said after the match.

 

The 39-minute first set brough a great and interesting battle. Barthel (77th in doubles) and doubles specialist Moulton-Levy (56th) surprised the fourth seeds with good returns and serves. They won the opening act, despite twice lost the break advantage. Timi (32nd) and Mladenovic (19th) also fought hard, but they lost the service game third time at 5:5, which was decisive.

 

The 30-minute second set was more smooth. Timi and Mladenovic played much better, they led 5:0. Barthel and Moulton-Levy came bacj to 5:3, but the fourt seeds won the ninth game to 30.

 

The all-important tie-break has been ” lacking ” the excitement, Timi and Kiki Mladenovic took the control and won easily with several points as a receiver.

 

The Hungarian-French duo ‘s next opponent will be the Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova – Renata Voracova ( Czech) or the Janette Husarova-Alicja Rosolska (Slovak, Polish) duo.
