Timea Babos (Hungarian, 1)-Samantha Murray (British, 7), 5:7, 6:3, 6:0

“Today’s match also had interesting twists and turns. In the first set was very hard for me to deal with the opponent’s serve, which made higher pressure on my own serves.I was just a little defensive because of this pressure. After the first set, I think I calmed down and started my attacking play. Completely turned the match, in the final set I had only one unforced error, and I had a 14-0 winning streak. I am happy that I won my last match as a 19-year old player. I hope, that tomorrow I will win my birthday game 🙂 Thanks for your support! “– Timi said after the quarter-final.

The World No 258 Murray immediately broke her rival, and also led 3-1. Then the first seed from Hungary equalized 3:3, but she lost the serve in the 11th game from 40-0… The experienced British player lived with the chance and won her next service game to 15, which gave the one set lead.

The second set was much better! Timi won Murray’s serve at 2:1 and at 4.1 she had three break points. Murray did not give up, but at 5.3 she had no chance to save the set.

The final act was extremely one-sided. Timi prevailed, broke Murray three times, didn’t give chance. The British player saved two match points at 5:0, but the next was crucial.

Timi’s next opponent will be the 25-year-old Teodora Mircic. The 25-year-old Serbian tennis player is 361st ranked, her career best was from 16.06.2008 (she was 249th). In early April, she won the 10 000 USD ITF-tournament in Heraklion, the victory of her career so far in singles.
