|Pauline Parmentier (French)-Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 7) 2:6, 6:4, 6:3|
The match lasted 2 hour and 22 minutes.
In the opening half of the 45-minute first set, Timi served and received very well, pulled to 5:0. The Hungarian player won her opponent’s serve to 30, to 40 and then again to 30. The sequel, however, was much more struggling, and Parmentier played much better.
Timi led 40-15 in the sixth game, had a total of four set points. Eventually her opponent won the game and then brought her serve. The Hungarian player then led 40-0, finishing the opening act with the ninth set ball.
Unfortunately, the 49-minute second set brought a turnaround. In the opening game Parmentier saved her serve from 0-40, and by 5: 4 no player had ever reached a break point. But then the ice broke. After 30-30, Parmentier reached a set point as a receiver and took the chance.
At the start of the final set, Timi won her opponent’s serve in a big battle and led 2-0. Parmentier turned in 3:2 and then had three breakballs. They were still blocked by Timi, but after 3:3 she had no chance, winning only one rally per game.
