Taiwan Open: the draw for the doubles

28/01/2018 – A Russian-Polish pair is waiting for the Hungarian player and her Taiwanese partner in Taiwan.

On Sunday, the doubles draw was made for the 250 000 USD Taiwan Open: Tímea Babos and Hao Ching Chan will meet Anna Blinkova and Magda Linette.

 

The Hungarian-Taiwanese team was seeded 1st at the hard court WTA Tour event.

 

Timea of Babos, the fresh Melbourne champion, was 7th at the latest WTA Rankings before the Australian Open. She will be fifth on Monday.

 

The Taiwanese player (born: 19 September, 1993) is 17th at the WTA Rankings, her career best position was 5th (27 June, 2016). So far she has won 13 WTA Tour, 2 WTA125 and 8 ITFs in doubles. Chan was finalist last season at Wimbledon on the of Monica Niculescu (Romania). In Mixed Doubles she was finalist in 2014 with Max Mirnyi (Belarus) at Wimbledon, and last year at the US Open, with Michael Venus (Australia).

 

The pair of Babos and Chan won the 250 000 USD Malaysian Open at Kuala Lumpur.

 

Blinkova (born: 10 September, 1998) is 117th in the world rankings, with a career best position of 116th (23 October, 2017). The Russian player has remained unbeaten in this genre in 3 ITF tournaments.

 

Linette (born: 12 February, 1992) is 145th in the world rankings, with a career best position of 95th (27 July, 2015). So far she has won 8 ITF tournaments.
