Taipei: a great victory in the semifinal

16/11/2019 – Timi was the Taipei Open Champ in 2015.

The match lasted 1 hour and 7 minutes.


Timi had reached the final of the 125 000 Taipei Open in 2015: int he last four she won 6:3, 7:6 against the 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist Kirsten Flipkens. This time the Hungarian player also won in two sets, so she can enjoy 9 successes in the Taiwan tournament!


Timi dominated the semi-final against Tomova almost all the way, giving no chance to the Bulgarian opponent.


In the 25-minute first set, the Hungarian player broke to 30 after 2:1 and then won her own serve. The sequel went great, too: Timi won her opponent’s serve to 40 from 40:15. The seventh game was brought to 30 by the 2nd seeded player of the tournament.


The second act was tighter, but it did not brought a turn. Timi immediately lost her first break advantage, but after 1:1, she again won Tomova’s serve to 40 this time.


In the fifth game the Hungarian player did not used two breakballs, but she soon won her opponent’s serve from the score of 40-0. In the last game, Tomova reached break point three times, but Timi cleared all the chances and after that, she finished the semifinal!


The opponent of the Hungarian player in Sunday’s final will be Vitalia Diatchenko.


The Russian player (born: 2 August, 1990) is 108th in the World Rankings and has a career best position of 71st (17 November, 2014). She has won 1 WTA125 and 18 ITF tournaments so far.
