I was a little bit tired … of course it’s not an excuse, just a fact. It was so nice week! I tried my best to win each match. Thank you for the support”– Timi said after the match.
It was the Hungarian player’s second singles final at the WTA Tour. Three years ago in Monterrey she won 6:4, 6:4 against Alexandra Cadantu.
This time Elina Svitolina was the opponent is the last match of the tournament. In 2013 the young Ukrainian player won in three sets against Timi in the final of the Donetsk ITF event.
In Marrakech it could have been otherwise, but at the most important moments of the final Svitolina was the better player. And several times the luck was also on her side…

In the second set Timi broke her rival at 1:0, but her lead didn’t last long. At 4:3 Svitolina had a break advantage, but her opponent equalized immediately.
In the tie-break Timi kept up until 2-2, but after that she won only one rally. So Svitolina celebrated her 3rd singles title at the WTA Tour.
