28/02/2015 – Timi won in two sets against Sachia Vickery the first qualifying round of the 500,000 USD WTA tournament in Monterrey.

The match lasted 59 minutes. The 21-year-old Hungarian player’s next opponent will be Mariana Duque Marino (Colombia).

Timi had great triumphs in Monterrey: in 2012 she won the singles tournament, in 2013 she won the doubles event with Kimiko Date-Krumm. Last year she played in the final with Olga Govortsova.

 

The Hungarian player began the match with a break against Vickery. Timi immediately lost her lead, but after 1:1 she won the opponent’s service game to 0. At 4:2 the 4th seed had a total of 8 break points, but without success. In the 9th game Timi broke her rival to 40.

 

The second set was much more smoothly. Timi quickly jumped to a 5:0 lead, she broke Vickery to 30, then to 15. At 5:1 she won her own service game to 30, she won the third match point.

 

Timi’s next opponent will be Mariana Duque Marino. The 25-year old Colombian player is ranked 139th, her career best was 90th position (28 October 2013). So far Duque-Marino has won 1 WTA and 17 ITF tournament in singles.
