Smooth triumph in the second round

02/08/2016 – Timi has lost just one game in Brazil WTA tournament in the last 16.


Timea Babos (Hungarian, 6)-Alize Lim (French) 6:0, 6:1


The match lasted 58 minutes.


“The match started bumpy for Me. But after that I played better, I’m happy with the win! After the match I went to a short practice. Some waiting and We play doubles” – said Timi.


The 23-year old Hungarian player won the opening game after a big battle, saved two break points. Then she had a clear upper hand. Timi served and recieved very well. She broke her opponent to 30, and to 15, and didn’t stopped. In the sixth game she won her opponent’s service game to 40.


At the beginning of the second set Lim surprisingly broke the Hungarian youngster, but it was the last time, when she had something to celebrate. Timi immediately broke back to 40, then she won the French player’s serve two more times. To 30, and again to 40. After 5:1, Lim saved two match points, then had a break chance. Fortunately Timi equalized, then she benefited of the third match point.


In the quarter-final, Timi will meet the fourth seed Jelena Ostapenko.


The 19-year old Latvian player is ranked 41st, her career best position was 34 (27 June 2016). So far, she has won 7 ITF events in singles. This year she was a finalist in Doha (Qatar, 2.818 million USD, hard court). In early April in Katowice, Ostapenko won 7:6, 2:6, 6:3 against Timi in the quarter-final.
