06/11/2019 – Timi won in two sets against the Chinese opponent.

SHENZHEN LONGHUA OPEN 2019 (100 000 USD, HARD COURT), SINGLES, ROUND 1
Tímea Babos (Hungarian, 5)-Dan Ni Wang (Chinese) 6:1, 6:4

The match lasted 1 hour and 18 minutes.

Three days after the successful WTA Finals triumph, Timi returned to an outdoor ITF event in singles. The Hungarian player wants to secure the main draw performance for the Australian Open with a season-ending appearance.

The 32-minute first set was very smooth. Wang, who frequently attacked the net and based on volleis, saved her serve from 0-40 in the second game, but Timi was much more accurate after that. The Hungarian player won her opponent’s serve to 15 then to 40, and in the seventh game hold her serve from 15-40.

The second set was much tighter. The tactics of the home player did not change, but this time she was more successful. Wang came back from a break down after 1:3 and then 3:4.

Luckily after 4:4, Timi dominated the match. She won her opponent’s serve to 30. Then led 40-0, ending the match with the third chance.

The next opponent of the Hungarian player will be Bibiane Schoofs.

The Dutch player (born: 13 May, 1988) is 149th in the World Rankings and has a career best position of 142th (11 June, 2012). Schoofs has so far won 8 ITF competitions in singles.

The two players met in Ilkley semifinal this year in England: Timi won 7:5, 6:3.
