TEB BNP PARIBAS ISTANBUL CUP (250 000 USD, CLAY), DOUBLES, QUARTER-FINAL
Tímea Babos, Çağla Büyükakçay (Hungarian, Turkish)-Mariana Duque-Marino, Andreea Mitu (Colombian, Romanian) 3:6, 6:2, 10-8

The match lasted 1 hour 17 minutes in Istanbul.

“Today I did not play well in singles… But every recognition for Çağla, because she played well. Unfortunately, I have not been able to train with full strength in recent weeks due to my leg injury, so it is good that I have some matches before major tournaments. It’s a pity for today’s match, but there’s a lot to learn about this for the clay court season and the rest of the year” – said Timi.

It was a difficult start of the match for the Hungarian-Turkish double, none of them played well. Timi and Büyükakçay lost four times their service game in the 33-minute first set. It’s true, the opponent had a great luck in several times.

The 31-minute second act has brought the turn. Timi and her partner played better, while Duque-Marino and Mitu made several mistakes. The Hungarian-Turkish pair served and received well, they broke the opponent twice. So they easily won the second set.

The Hungarian-Turkish pair led almost all the way in the deciding tie-break. It was crucial, that after 4-3, they won two rallies as a reciever. Then, they led 9-6, and lived with the third match point.
