Rome: another victory in Singles

The match lasted 3 hour and 2 minutes in Rome.


In the 59-minute first set, Timi turned over from 0:2 with two breaks (both times she won her opponent’s serve to 40) and then her opponent equalized. The Hungarian player won her serve from a break ball at 4:5, and then took Aney”s serve to 0. The last game of the opening act was brought by Timi from 30-40.


In the second set of 62 minutes, Aney led 3:0, followed by 3:3. After that, they both won their serving games with confidence, but in the tie-break the American player was more accurate.


Aney also started the third set with a break, but the answer came immediately. Timi also won two receiving games to 40, but was unable to maintain this advantage (3:3). The Hungarian player soon served for the match at 5:3, but did not win a rally. Fortunately, Timi immediately regained control, pulled in 40-0 as a receiver and won the second match ball. So, she reach the QF in Rome.


Timi’s next opponent will be Daria Astakhova. The Russian player (born: 26 January, 2002) is 274th at the World Rankings, this is her Career Best position. So far, Astakhova won 5 ITFs in Singles.
