09/10/2020 – Alexa Guarachi is 45th, while Desirae Krawczyk is 38th at the World Rankings.
On Friday afternoon it was decided that Timi and Kristina Mladenovic will meet Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk in the final of the Roland Garros 2020. The Chilean-American pair was seeded 14th in Paris, while the Title Holders are 2nd seeds.
It’s no question, Guarachi and Krawczyk caused a big surprise with reaching the Final. In Round 1 they won 6:3, 6:4 against Ellen Perez and Storm Sanders (bot Australian), ) then came the 2:6, 6:3, 6:1 victory against Lauren Davist and Sabrina Santamaria (both USA). This was followed with the sensational 6:4, 7:5 success against the 1st seeded Barbora Strýcová (Czech) and Su-Wei Hsieh (Taiwanese).
In the QF Guarachi and Krawczyk defeated the 7th seeded Shuko Aoyama and Shibahara Ena (both Japanese) 6:0, 6:4. On Friday the Chilean-American pair won 7:6 (7-5), 1:6, 6:4 against Nicole Melichar (USA) and the Singles finalist Iga Świątek (Polish).
The Floridan-born (17 November 1990) Guarachi, who represents Chile from 2015 has a career best position of 38th (17 February 2020). So far, she has won 2 wta tour events in Doubles. Till Roland Garros her best Grand Slam result was the 3rd round at the US Open 2019.
Krawczyk (born: 11 January 1994) has a career best position of 35th (13 January 2020). So far, she has won 4 WTA Tour events in Doubles. Till Roland Garros her best Grand Slam result was the 3rd round at the Australian Open 2019.
