The match lasted 1 hour 29 minutes in Paris.
“Of course, I’m really sorry for today’s match! I led 5:2 in the first act and I had a lot of opportunities in the second set. All in all, I had the chance for the victory. The problem remains that I can not live with my chances. I do not play important points like I should. As I played until I reached till the chance. This needs to be improved. But that’s sure I’m doing a lot of work to be better. I’m sure I can change over time and be even better! From today’s match: Arruabarrena is a pretty good player on clay, with good results, unpleasant game and playing style. It was not easy to play against her. Of course We can say that there was a chance in my hand, I could have been better and I could have won. It’s just this way! I’m trying to stay positive. The most important thing is to work hard to move to the next step and be even better” – said Timi.
In the first part of the 55-minute opening set, it seemed that Timi could overcome her clay court specialist opponent. The Hungarian player won Arruabarrena’s serve after 1:0 to 15, then comfortably hold that lead, until 5:3. Unfortunately, in the ninth game, the Spanish player broke to 15, then hold her serve from 0-30.
After 5:5, Timi hold her service game from 15-40, then Arruabarrena did not lose a rally, so came the tie-break.
In the tie-break, Timi came back three times from a break down, but after 5-5, only the Spanish player won a rally.
At the start of the second set, Timi was again in a break advantage, but after 2:0, she lost 5 games in a row. The Hungarian player could not hold her serve from 40-15, then from 40-0. Arruabarrena, who was much more relaxed, more patient and more accurate, won the ninth game to 0, so she easily finished the match.
