Timea Babos (Hungarian)-Samantha Crawford (USA) 6:4, 6:0

“I am very pleased that I managed to absolve today’s match! I started a little jittery in which the opponent “did not helped”, she hit great baseline shots and serves…It was a difficult start of the match, then I broke her. Then I screwed up a little bit. But I think that after that, I started to play really well. At 4:4 I “said” to Myself, you need to start playing. After that I started to play tennis with much more airy and loose. I managed to win eight games in a row. I am very happy to finally win a singles match at the main draw of the Roland Garros. That was not in my mind anyway, I only said this to Thomas when I trained after the match” – said Timi.

In the first part of the 33-minute opening set, both player served well. Up to 3:2, there was no break point, but then came the deciding part of the act. Timi won her opponent’s service game, she led 4:2. But Crawford came back strongly, she equalized to 4:4…

But then Timi had dominated the match! The Hungarian player hold her serve to 0, and after that she broke the US-opponent to 40. Thus ended an exciting opening act.

The second set was very smooth! Timi served and received very well. She faced no break point.
